Testimony

My name is Doreen Nixon and I want to tell you how I came to love Jesus. During my lifetime I have perhaps had more than my fair share of problems, both physical and emotional, but it was through these difficulties that I really came to trust in the Lord. I first became a Christian in 1980, a year I remember well because it was while I was at home from work suffering from 'flu' that I fell down the stairs ans seriously injured my back in two places. The doctors told me it would take six months to mend and so I resigned myself to the constant pain and discomfort.  Then one Sunday shortly afterwards, two people from a church came to visit me. I wasn't happy to see them but thank the Lord I did for they changed my life . they asked me if I knew Jesus. I replied, "I know there is a God and I'm as good as you"!They asked me if they could pray for me and after a few minutes hesitation I agreed. I thought it wouldn't take long and that they would soon leave. They prayed for me and ended by saying, "You are healed-stand up in the name of Jesus". I thought "Stand-up? I can hardly sit down". But I got to my feet and as I did, I felt a strong power touch the whole of my body and I was instantly, healed. I was so overwhelmed that I said, "I will go to your church and say Thank You to your God". As I walked into Longton Elim Church I soon felt at ease and found people to be very loving and caring.

That night I went forward for prayer for epilepsy from which I had suffered since the age of 28.
Sometimes I had as many as 7 fits a day and doctors at the hospital told me they could help me but not cure me.
Shortly after, when the Pastor came to visit me in hospital I gave my life to Jesus and decided to be baptised in water.

Within two years my epilepsy had gone! When I later suffered from ulcers and, more seriously, cancer, God healed me.

I was also healed emotionally from the hurts of an unhappy childhood. As a result of my parents splitting up and being sent to various children's homes, I hated my mother and was unable to forgive her.I felt like I could never give or receive love.
God healed me from the rejection, bitterness and jealousy that gripped me. I telephoned my mother and arranged to meet.
By this time she was 84. We had three lovely years together before she died. She also received Jesus as her Saviour and came to church until she went to be with the Lord.

Whatever has happened in your life, Jesus can turn things around.

He did it for me-He can do it for you!
